Cool voice control technology

If you’ve been around PCs for anywhere near the number of years that I have, you’ve probably tried your share of consumer-level voice-recognition systems. The dictation apps are interesting if quirky, and prone to introducing stealth errors that your spell-checker won’t catch. But up until now, I’ve found the mouse/keyboard replacement systems to be all but unusable. Using voice commands to open applications, navigate menus, cut-and-paste, etc. has been frustrating at best.
But take a look at this.
University of Washington researchers did some lateral thinking and are developing a project that may lead to a whole new kind of interface for special-needs computer users.
